Comic Book Update: Civil War #4 Review
The countdown to the Battle of the Divide has started. The Blue has the materials to finish Project Bellcurve, and She-Hulk, The Iron’s agent to uncover the truth, was captured by T’challa!? How does T’challa play into all of this?! He was supposed to be dead in the Project 42 explosion which was revisited in issue 1 of this mini series. I do have to say I was giddy to see President Stark suit up for the first time in this series in his clear coated Iron Man suit. I tip my hat to Leinil Francis Yu for the rendition of the suit.
The Blue is ready for war and is on the march to cross the divide and begin the final battle with the The Iron Army. The Blue have landed and they’re itching for a fight and General Steve Rogers is giving them the low down for what is going to happen and what they are truly fighting for. Little do they know an even bigger fight is occurring right beneath their feet in the depths of the divide. President Stark zeroed in on Jennifer Walters’ signature but walked straight into an ambush. Standing face to face with “T’challa,” Tony isn’t convinced that he’s the real deal and of course if you’re going to underestimate someone, Tony Stark should be the last one you underestimate because he doesn’t leave home unless he has a plan up his sleeve.
I give a lot of credit to the writers for for their continued misdirection within this storyline. There aren’t a lot of twists and turns so far and that’s really nice. Too many just makes the story seem like it should have stayed an idea, and making the Skrull the underlying cause of the continuation. To be honest this is the first I’ve seen of any of the races that attacked the world on the last issue of Jon Hickman’s Avengers series. It’s a good reminder that they also still have their own domain. Somewhere. Or Nowhere. I do want to revisit the idea of Jennifer Walter’s encounter with Professor X that I had talked about in the last review. I had questioned whether or not Professor Xavier was really on She-Hulk’s side or if she really did pull the wool over the mind of a highly ranked Psychic with her Lawyer-ness background.
I am on edge about the next issue of the Civil War continuation story. What did She-Hulk find in Steeltown that Tony needs to know? How is this going to change the tide of war? Are the two sides going to band together and fight the Skrull? All good questions, but we’ll just have to wait and see till the next issue.
What do you think is going to happen? Let me know in the comments below or tweet me with your thoughts.
