Trailer of the Week
I have to admit, the approach that DC and Warner Bros. are taking with the DC Cinematic Universe has me intrigued. In a bid to play catch-up with Marvel, DC is taking a few risks with their productions of both Batman v Superman and, our featured… um… feature, Suicide Squad. Of all the characters in this continuity, Superman is really the only one who’s gotten himself an origin story. Not that it’s needed, really, as even the average movie goer who isn’t a comic fan knows it – as well as Bruce Wayne’s.
This one, one, though, looks like a ton of fun. Margot Robbie looks like she’s having a blast as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto is slowly but surely winning me over with the bits we see of his take on The Joker. Aside from Deadshot and Killler Croc, I’m not terribly familiar with the rest of the characters, so I’ll be interested to hear the fan feedback on how the cast did with them. Regardless, with David Ayer (the man who either wrote or directed such great films as Dark Blue, Training Day, Harsh Times, the very underrated Street Kings, and Fury) having both written and directed this, I think this will be one of the better comic book films of 2106.
